Dating to circa 1860–1880, this exceptional antique Victorian Bohemian garnet brooch is set with hundreds of glowing pyrope garnets, celebrated for their deep blood-red hue and captivating fire. They’re individually set into a tiered, domed cluster of gold composite, known as “garnet gold”, with a large, polished cabochon taking centre stage on top.
Bohemian garnet jewellery is treasured for its abundance of pyrope garnets, meticulously hand-cut in the traditional rose-cut style, designed to catch and reflect the soft glow of candlelight. Originally sourced from the historic region of Bohemia, now part of the Czech Republic, it was highly prized throughout 19th-century Europe and gifted as a token of passion, devotion, and enduring love.
This Victorian treasure is expertly crafted and preserved in remarkable condition, a true rarity for garnet clusters of this scale and intricacy. An outstanding acquisition for Victorian collectors and an evocative statement piece for the modern romantic, it is a jewel that commands attention and leaves a lasting impression.
