Product Details
An exquisite antique Victorian Bohemian garnet pendant/ locket abundantly decorated with pear-shaped rose-cut garnets with a blazing-red hue. The tiered gallery is set with a leaf-shaped cluster in the centre, with two outer wreaths below, and another cluster on top that conceals the loop.
Bohemian garnet jewellery is desired for its abundance of rose cut garnets, also known as pyrope crystals. They were originally sourced in the region of Bohemia, which later became the Czech Republic and were highly sought after across Europe in the late 19th Century with their crimson red flame associated with passion and enduring love.
The piece is modelled in a gold composite, known as “garnet gold” and is fitted with a hidden glass window locket at the back that closes securely.
It’s a fabulous antique find, dating to the late 19th Century and the perfect place to store a treasured photograph or, a lock of hair belonging to a loved one.
