Product Details
A fabulous antique Victorian butterfly brooch from the turn of the 20th Century decorated with an abundance of natural opals, blue sapphires and pink rubies across the head and wings, with a large natural mabe pearl abdomen below with a domed centre and bright, silvery lustre.
During the late 19th Century many were left longing to reconnect with the beauty of the natural world after the vast urbanisation of Great Britain. This brought about an abundance of romanticised Insect and butterfly pieces, decorated with colourful gemstones to emphasise the beauty and value of nature.
It’s a gorgeous piece, fashioned in silver, gilded in 18ct gold with a dazzling rainbow of gems displayed across the front.
We recommend you insure for £2,300. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
