This magnificent antique Turquoise and Diamond butterfly brooch is Victorian Circa 1860.

Butterfly or insect jewellery is highly collectable and was a symbol of good luck to the wearer during the Victorian Era.

The fabulous butterfly is decorated in 5ct of sparkling Rose cut Diamonds with over 8ct of natural Turquoise stones adoring the wings, body and head.

Turquoise stones are considered a symbol of friendship and were once said to bring good fortune to the wearer. The stone has also long being associated with the Forget me not.

‘Forget-me-not, O Lord!’ is what a poor German knight shouted as he fell into a river. He and his lady were picking flowers by the side of the river at the time when the poor knight suddenly fell in and sank to the bottom. Upon his cries to the Lord, he threw the blue posy of flowers to his loved one. Hence, the concept of remembrance, eternal love and faithfulness grow from this.

The butterfly is beautifully made with intricate detailing and red Ruby eyes.

All set in 18ct Yellow Gold and fitted with a secure pin and safety chain too.

Complete with original black leather box with cream velvet interior to store the piece in.

A truly stunning antique brooch that looks fabulous when worn, a great collectors item!
