Product Details
A remarkable antique Victorian celestial bangle from the late 19th Century crafted in 18ct gold with a display of pearl studded stars across the front and a crescent moon in the centre, lined with more bright pearls.
Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.
The band is fitted with a box clasp and safety chain at the side and has a fabulous open-work design, consisting of three separate bands that curve gracefully towards the crescent at the front.
It’s remained in pristine condition and is even accompanied by its original antique box marked with the maker’s insignia “Adair & Ross Jewellers” under the lid.
