Product Details
A fabulous antique Victorian pearl lavaliere necklace, featuring a wonderful starburst pendant suspended from the bottom, decorated with gleaming white seed pearls that also adorn a lovely crescent moon and star above and foliate motifs that branch out at each side to join the chain.
Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. Stars were a popular lucky charm to be wished upon and were said to guide us on the path to our dreams and our true destiny.
The piece is fashioned in a sunny 15ct yellow gold and fitted with a thick rope chain, complete with an engraved tube clasp. The star pendant is also fitted with a pin at the back and can be detached and worn separately as a brooch as well.
It’s an exquisite Victorian necklace, from the late 19th Century, and complete with its original fitted box, with a cream velvet interior and red leatherette exterior, with golden trim.
