Details
Here we have an extremely rare antique Victorian Saint-Esprit necklace, made in Europe during the late 19th Century. Hand-crafted in 800 silver, the piece features the traditional descending dove pendant suspended from a bow, with delicate floral quatrefoil links, decorated with an abundance of high-quality old cut pink and white paste stones, glittering like diamonds and rubies. It’s complete with rare ribbon-attachment loops at each end, designed specifically to be tied with a silk or velvet ribbon for a perfectly tailored fit.
The Saint-Esprit dove is a powerful symbol of peace, hope and divine protection, traditionally gifted to a young bride or beloved daughter as a token of love and faith. This necklace captures the romance of its era, designed to be worn high on the neck, so its skilfully hand-cut paste stones could glitter and dance in candlelight in an evening ballroom or beneath the vaulted arches of a cathedral.
Continue the romantic story of this rare, soulful piece by styling it on a black velvet ribbon for a striking gothic-glamour look. It’s remained in excellent condition and is even complete with its original leatherette presentation box, lined with plush blue velvet and silk that has accompanied and kept the necklace safe across the centuries.
