A stylish antique Edwardian gate bracelet made up of chunky 9ct gold curb links that have developed a lovely rosy patina with age. Each alternate link has been engraved with detailed patterning and is stamped 9ct on the reverse.
It’s held securely around the wrist by a safety chain and large heart padlock clasp which were often gifted by Victorian gentlemen to their loved ones during long periods of separation, as a symbol of the couple’s strong commitment to one another.
Gate bracelets are highly sought after, and this is a particularly fine example. It bears the maker’s initials for the “Albion Chain Co.” on the back of the padlock along with clear Birmingham hallmarks that date it to 1906.
