Dating to the late 19th Century, this fabulous antique Victorian diamond flower pendant also doubles up as a brooch. A chunky 0.50ct old cushion cut diamond takes centre stage, elevated on a pronounced claw setting, with further cushion and rose cut diamonds decorating each petal (approx. 1.9ct total). It’s fashioned in silver with a rosy 18ct gold back, featuring a detachable loop and pin with locking trombone catch.
During the 18th and 19th Century, Rose and Mine cut diamonds were considered the highest quality, with skilfully hand-cut facets that were said to gently dance by candlelight. They may be less flashy by modern standards, but their rugged aesthetic and distinctive fire are unlike any machine-cut stones made today and evoke the romance and skilled craftsmanship of a bygone era.
