Modelled in luxurious 18ct yellow gold, this solid antique Victorian diamond snake ring is crowned with five chunky old mine cut diamonds flush set across the serpent’s head (approx. 0.35ct total). Its thick, coiled band has developed a lovely smoothness and bright golden patina with time and glides smoothly over the finger.
Coiled snake rings have had a long history of symbolism but were popularised as a token of love and devotion in the 19th Century after Prince Albert gifted the young Queen Victoria with a serpent ring during their courtship. The union of the head and tail symbolises eternity, whilst its tightly coiled body represents a strong, unbreakable bond.
