Details
Dating to the late 19th Century, this rare and collectable antique Victorian Essex Crystal ring features a charming portrait of a boxer dog as its centrepiece. It’s been painted skilfully with enamel by a true artist and looks adorable with his large eyes and black bow around his neck. The domed Essex crystal and shimmering mirror backing create a vivid three-dimensional effect that really makes the portrait pop!
In the Victorian era, Essex Crystals were overlaid on top of a hand-carved or painted portrait to create a lifelike 3D effect. Pet portraits were especially popular, often showcasing the wearer’s favourite breed or their own beloved canine companion.
So if you know someone who adores this breed, or if you’re lucky enough to have one of these beautiful dogs at home, then this Victorian Essex Crystal ring is for you. It’s fashioned in 18ct yellow gold with a closed back and beaded edge and has been lovingly preserved over the centuries.
We recommend you insure for £2,200. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
