Product Details
An exquisite antique Etruscan revival locket from the late Victorian era (Circa 1880) crowned with a twinkling old cushion cut diamond star set in the centre (approx. 0.15ct).
The shell is modelled in solid 18ct gold which has developed a lovely, smoothness and dark patina with age. It’s decorated with intricate loops and cannetille metalwork across the front, which is all characteristic of the style.
Etruscan revival pieces were crafted in the mid 1800s when ancient Etruscan jewellery was unearthed in tombs outside of Rome beginning a fascination with the style and giving birth to these beautiful pieces which were crafted in the same decorative fashion.
It’s complete with the original rims and silk backing inside, along with a lock of brown hair and a small piece of paper with a signature on it. Both have been preserved behind a glass window and will have belonged to a loved one of the original owner who treasured it dearly.
We recommend you insure for £2,500. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
