A grand antique Victorian gate bracelet made up of fabulous, open-work gate links with curved posts that form scrolled motifs in the centre. Each link is modelled in solid 9ct gold and is held by a safety chain and heart padlock clasp.
The Victorians loved romance and Heart padlocks were a popular love token gifted during a long period of separation. It was a symbol of the couple’s strong love and commitment to one another, reminding the recipient that they may be gone, but their heart will always be with them.
The piece has a lovely weight and patina and dates to the late 19th Century. A timeless piece of antique jewellery with a sweet sentiment attached.
