This striking beetle brooch is set with three glorious glass cabochons. The deep red body is augmented with a deep purple thorax and bright red head.

The insect’s three section body and six legs have been cleverly crafted in Sterling Silver with intricate detailing on the feet.

Beetle jewellery experienced a renaissance in the Victorian era as archaeology became popular, and treasures from the ancient world were unearthed. The ancient Egyptian scarab, a symbol of rebirth and veneration towards the sun god Ra, was a motif which many Victorian jewellers paid homage to in their own work.
