This beautiful antique Victorian 18ct Gold Turquoise locket pendant is Circa 1880.
The wonderful pendant is decorated with a cluster of bright Turquoise stones and crowned on top with a Gold star and lustrous Pearl.
Turquoise stones are considered a symbol of friendship and were once said to bring good fortune to the wearer. The stone has also long being a associated with the Forget me not.
"Forget-me-not, O Lord!" is what a poor German knight shouted as he fell into a river. He and his lady were picking flowers by the side of the river at the time when the poor knight suddenly fell in and sank to the bottom. Upon his cries to the Lord, he threw the blue posy of flowers to his loved one. Hence, the concept of remembrance, eternal love and faithfulness grow from this.
A locket can be seen on the reverse of the pendant where you can add a photo or piece of your own history.
The pendant is set in an 18ct Yellow Gold Etruscan gallery and complete with a more recent 9ct Gold chain.
Purchased in London and steeped in English history. The necklace looks stunning when worn and deserves to be treasured.
