A sweet antique Victorian heart locket fashioned in 9ct gold back and front with beautiful, chased artistry on both sides including depictions of forget me nots and ivy.

Forget me nots were a popular motif in the Victorian era and symbolic of eternal love and remembrance. They were often paired with ivy leaves which similarly represented an unbreakable bond, as in the Victorian rhyme “Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee”.   

The locket opens to reveal rims, windows and two original photographs of a lady and a gentleman in military uniform, most likely a husband and wife. It certainly has a story to tell and has been lovingly preserved over the centuries.
