Details
This wonderful antique Victorian jade talisman pendant has been skilfully hand-carved from a large piece of jadeite and suspended from a silver loop, crowned with two twinkling old mine cut diamonds (approx. 0.10ct total). The open-work jade is glossy and smooth and exhibits dark and light patches, with detailed, organic patterns engraved deep into the surface, including depictions of leaves, flowers, and a bird.
Jade has been prized in China for thousands of years and was traditionally intricately carved into natural forms, expressing cultural and spiritual meanings of prosperity, harmony, and longevity. In the Victorian era, Chinese-inspired pieces captured the imagination of the West, admired for their intricate craftsmanship, exotic allure, and nature-inspired motifs that were both stylish and collectible.
This beautiful Victorian jade pendant dates to the late 19th Century and has remained in excellent condition. It’s a beautiful work of art and is accompanied by a newer platinum chain to display it on.
