Details
Dating to the late 19th Century, this elegant, long antique Victorian guard chain measures an impressive 57 inches in length and is crafted in sunny 9ct yellow gold. It’s made up of fine cable links, interspersed with longer faceted links, with delicate pierced detailing, and finished with a newer ring clasp.
Chic and functional, guard chains are a timeless accessory, originally worn in the 18th and 19th centuries to hold pocket watches, lorgnette glasses, or even a cylinder of fur known as a muff. They were designed long enough to tuck into a belt for quick access and today, they make the perfect layering piece that can be personalised with lockets, charms, or pendants.
This silky Victorian 9ct gold guard chain is in excellent condition and remains as alluring today as it was over a century ago. A true treasure of Victorian elegance, it’s perfect worn layered, wrapped, or elegantly long.
