A mystifying Antique Victorian Man in the Moon pendant from the late 19th Century. The rounded glass face has been carved with a delightful, smiling expression with an iridescent coating of colour painted at the back to create a shimmering rainbow affect.
The Man in the Moon has been a fascination for cultures all around the world for many centuries and became a popular motif in jewellery in the 18th and 19th Century due to an increased interest in astronomy.
The face is held in a Gold frame and is accompanied with a newer 18ct Gold chain to display it on. It’s highly collectable and in excellent condition.
