“The Lord watch between thee and me, when we are absent one from another.” — Genesis 31:49
Crafted in the year 1900 by the renowned Nathan Brothers, this exquisite 9ct gold band ring is a poignant relic of the late Victorian era. The word “MIZPAH” is spelt out in bold raised lettering along the front, set against a finely hand-stippled background. Derived from the Hebrew word meaning “watchtower,” Mizpah jewellery symbolised protection, remembrance, and enduring connection at a time when loved ones were often parted by distance.
It’s easy to imagine a young woman standing at a bustling train station, clutching this band as a quiet token of love, carried across miles and time. The craftsmanship remains beautifully preserved, with crisp Birmingham hallmarks still visible within the band. It sits snugly against the finger, its interior now worn to a soft, silky smoothness - evidence of a century of cherished memories.
Rich in sentiment and history, this antique Mizpah ring would make a meaningful gift for a loved one during a period of separation, or a distinctive alternative wedding band. Wear it alone to honour its story, or stack it with modern pieces for a layered, soulful aesthetic.
