Product Details
A grand antique late Victorian ring modelled in solid 18ct gold with the word “Mizpah” displayed in large lettering across the front, separated by a flower in the centre. It’s beautifully detailed with a jagged edge and dark shading around the letters to make them really jump out.
“MIZPAH” is a Hebrew word meaning “Watchtower” and comes from the Old Testament; “The Lord watch between thee and me when we are absent one from another”. It became a popular motif during the Victorian era and was given as a token of protection and faithfulness.
It’s a wonderful piece of Victorian history and complete with faded Chester hallmarks and the maker’s initials (CYBS), indicating it was made by Coley Brothers, Circa 1890.
