Product Details
An enchanting antique early Victorian moonstone solitaire ring boasting a magnificent cabochon moonstone, weighing approx. 6 carats. It has a lovely, smooth surface that is semi-transparent and exhibits a bright, silvery-blue schiller that floats across the surface when it catches the light.
The mystifying moonstone derives its name from the stone’s ethereal, luminescent light that was once believed to be moonlight in solid form. In Greek mythology they were associated with Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and said to be a path to love, wisdom and new beginnings.
The moonstone is held securely in an 18ct gold claw mount and features Birmingham hallmarks within the band that have worn over time but appear to date to 1842. It’s a wonderful statement piece and in excellent condition.
