Antique Victorian Niello Guard Chain Silver Gold Gilt Circa 1900

This wonderful Antique Guard chain dates from the late Victorian era, Circa 1900. It is made up of exquisite Silver paper clip links with fine Niello black stripes interlinked with Gold gilt knot links creating a pleasing two-tone effect.

Niello is a black alloy that fuses into an etched or engraved metal base to create a fabulous decorative effect that stands the test of time.

The chain is held securely by a large trigger clasp which also features Niello workmanship. It is a fine Victorian piece and can be worn as one long chain or wrapped twice around the neck.
