An exquisite antique Victorian cross pendant, fashioned in silver and 18ct gold with a line of alternating natural pearls and old mine cut diamonds across each crossbar. The eleven natural pearls have a bright silver-cream tone and complement the diamonds brilliance. Each diamond weighs approx. 0.10ct, with additional smaller stones chasing up the loop, bringing the total to approx. 1.15 carats.
In Christian tradition, pearls were often used to reflect the soul’s purity and virtue and were heavily associated with the Virgin Mary. Their soft lustre harmonises beautifully with the brilliance of diamonds, together representing unbreakable devotion and the eternal spirit.
A wonderful antique statement piece, this large Victorian pearl diamond cross pendant dates to the late 19th Century and boasts a fabulous collection of natural gems. It would look beautiful on the end of a gold chain once more and features an opening loop on top that locks securely.
