Details
This pretty antique Art Nouveau brooch was crafted by the legendary Liberty & Co. of London and bears their distinguished mark on the reverse. Fashioned in luminous 9ct yellow gold, its voluptuous curves and delicate openwork design capture the poetic spirit of the Aesthetic movement. It is adorned with a feminine blush-pink tourmaline centre stone (approx. 1.3ct), complemented by a smaller drop below. The stone has long been associated with the heart and was likely gifted as a token of compassion and unconditional love.
At the turn of the 20th century, Liberty & Co. stood at the forefront of London’s avant-garde design scene. Founded by Arthur Lasenby Liberty in 1875, the Regent Street store evolved from an Oriental emporium into an international beacon of Art Nouveau style. By 1900, its influence was so profound that in Italy, the movement itself became known simply as “Stile Liberty.”
Whether you are a dedicated collector of The Liberty Style or someone looking for that perfect antique treat for a loved one, this pink tourmaline brooch would make an enchanting addition to a silk scarf, a velvet lapel, or pinned close to the heart on a bridal bouquet.
