Product Details
A remarkable antique Victorian pendant built around a stunning high-relief cameo, hand-carved from an irregular shaped bullmouth shell. It depicts the profile of an elegant lady with detailed flowers woven into her hair.
Roman style Cameos were highly sought after in the 19th century during the Grand Tour days when tourists developed a fascination with destinations such as Rome. They often depicted Goddesses and characters from mythology and became a favourite of Queen Victoria also.
The outer frame is all 15ct gold and features scrolling, open metalwork decorated with gleaming pearls, three deep-pink rubies and a rose-cut diamond in a star setting at the top of the bale.
It’s a highly collectable piece of Victorian history, dating to the late 19th Century and has remained in pristine condition.
