Antique Victorian Sapphire Diamond Toi Et Moi Ring
A stunning antique Victorian Toi et Moi ring from the late 1800s adorned with a gorgeous deep blue cushion cut sapphire contrasted with a bright old mine cut diamond, both weighing approx. 0.25ct each.
“Toi et Moi” is French for “You and me”. The style was made popular after the controversial marriage of Josephine Beauharnais to Napoleon Bonaparte in 1796. Her ring was famously adorned with a matching sapphire and diamond that symbolised the coming together of their souls.
The piece consists of three united bands, fashioned in 18ct gold with crown settings for the principal stones that are displayed in a wonderful off-centre fashion with a row of additional diamonds running through the centre.
It would make a perfect engagement ring, exhibiting a striking pair of gemstones that perfectly symbolise a relationship that is sure to stand the test of time.
