Details
This grand antique Victorian Scottish bracelet consists of six large segments made up of an assortment of natural, polished agates. They’re set on a slate base within engraved silver settings, with a safety chain and detachable padlock to hold it secure. The agates exhibit a rainbow of earthy hues and natural banded patterns. Three of the sections depict large flowers and the padlock crest has a striking checkerboard design, with scrolling, foliate engraving on the back.
Scottish Pebble jewellery grew in popularity in the mid-1800s and saw traditional Celtic designs decorated with an abundance of coloured agates and granites. It was a personal favourite of Queen Victoria’s whose frequent trips to Balmoral Castle saw her return with many beautiful souvenirs that influenced the trend across Britain.
This substantial Scottish agate bracelet makes a bold statement, featuring an array of meticulously cut and polished agates that are well-preserved from the mid-19th century, showcasing both exquisite Victorian craftsmanship and historical elegance.
