This magnificent large antique Victorian Scottish Silver and Agate brooch is Circa 1860.
Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid 1800s.
The wonderful brooch is adorned with an engraved Silver crown in the centre which is laid upon a St. Andrews Cross.
The St. Andrews cross or Saltire, is a prominent symbol in Scotland and represents Andrew the Apostle, Scotland's Patron saint.
The piece is set in Silver and decorated in fabulous Montrose Agates in a beautiful Scottish design.
Montrose Agates are found along the east coast of Scotland and are sometimes known as the earth rainbow for their patterned, greyish, blue texture that is unique to this form of Agate.
This is a truly stunning Scottish collectors piece that is steeped in history and looks stunning when worn!
