This wonderful antique Victorian Sterling Silver Scottish thistle locket is Circa 1880.

Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid 1800s.

The locket displays a beautifully engraved Thistle on the front which is the national flower of Scotland and has been a symbol of strength, protection and unity within the country throughout history.

The locket opens and closes securely and contains two original photographs of a finely dressed Victorian lady and gentleman.

All set in Sterling Silver and complete with original rim and window on one side of the locket.

This is a lovely collectable piece, steeped in Victorian history and would look fabulous displayed on a Silver chain!

Weighs 21.5 grams.

Measures 28mm across x 37mm down x 43mm down with bale.

Excellent condition.
