This beautiful Victorian Sterling Silver Scottish Thistle and Horseshoe brooch is dated Birmingham 1905.
Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid 1800s.
The brooch is set with beautiful Grey Agates which is in the shape of a horseshoe, with Scottish Thistles set into the gallery.
Two beautiful orange glass stones are set into the Silver Thistle gallery simulating the bright orange glow of the Scottish Cairngorm stone.
The lovely grey Agates have a beautiful finish showing the natural grain from within.
The Thistle is the national flower of Scotland and has been a symbol of strength, protection and unity within the country throughout history.
The brooch is steeped in Victorian history.
