Details
This magnificent long antique Beaded Serpentine necklace is from the Victorian era, Circa 1900. The lovely necklace features apple green Serpentine beads which alternate in size with larger engraved beads decorated throughout. Serpentine derives its name from the Greek word ‘Serpens’ meaning snake due to its green colouring which sometimes has a snake-skin texture. The clasp is truly special and depicts a beautiful hand carved Dragon head with horns and a scaly neck. Dragons have long been seen as a powerful image in ancient cultures and represent wisdom, divinity and the primal forces of nature. There is slight wear on one of the dragons horns but this is minimal considering its age. A truly spectacular antique necklace, beautifully made and stunning to behold!
