These fabulous Sterling Silver antique screw back Paste earrings are Circa 1900.
Paste is hand-cut glass that has been polished with metal powder until it shimmers like a gemstone. They are also a transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones, because they have a relatively high indices of refraction and a strong dispersion.
Star and Moon images became popular during the late 19th Century as an interest in astronomy grew. Stars symbolise guidance and are seen to lead you in the direction you are meant to go.
A Silver hallmark can be seen on the back.
They look beautiful when worn, showing exquisite workmanship from the Victorian era.
