This fabulous antique Victorian 18ct Gold snake brooch is Circa 1860.
The wonderful brooch depicts a beautifully engraved 18ct Gold snake which is adorned with Emeralds, Opals and Rubies.
The Rubies are the snakes eyes, with the beautiful Emeralds and Opals set into the snakes head.
The Ruby is considered to be the most powerful gem of the universe, given as a gift, the ruby is a symbol of friendship and love. Ruby is also the symbol of vitality and loyalty.
The natural Opal show a magical kaleidoscope of rainbow colours shimmering and changing colours with the light, they radiate a myriad of colours such as blues, pinks, greens, turquoise and an inner orange.
An Emerald is also set into the heart locket too.
Emerald derives its beautiful green colour from the presence of chromium and vanadium. The Emerald is the sacred stone of the goddess Venus, it was thought to preserve love.
The heart locket is set in 18ct Gold, with a heart back Crystal locket window.
Serpent jewellery represents love, loyalty and friendship, which is a lovely combination.
This is a truly beautiful Victorian brooch that looks fabulous when worn.
