This fabulous little antique Victorian 15ct Yellow Gold pendant is a genuine Suffragette piece, Circa 1900.
Emmeline Pankhurst was the leader of the British Suffragette movement in the 19th century and through her efforts won the right for women to vote.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
The pendant is adorned with two violet Amethysts, a rich green Peridot, a creamy Pearl dropper and a central Diamond.
Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes.
Each beautiful Amethyst and peridot is approx. 0.60ct in size, set in a lucky 15ct Yellow Gold three leaf clover gallery.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty which has adorned regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The Peridot is a stone of lightness and beauty and was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who considered it a gift from Mother Nature.
