Product Details
This lovely little antique Victorian 15ct Yellow Gold pendant was made representing the Suffragette movement, Circa 1900.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking! Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
The wonderful pendant is made up of a violet Amethyst, green Peridot and creamy Blister Pearl.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty which has adorned regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The Peridot is a stone of lightness and beauty and was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who considered it a gift from Mother Nature.
Each stone is 1.75ct and displayed in a shamrock shaped gallery.
Shamrocks were a popular motif in the Victorian era and have long been a symbol of Ireland and Saint Patrick who used this symbol to illustrate the Holly Trinity.
This is a wonderful Suffragette piece that’s steeped in history and would look lovely displayed on a Gold chain!
