This fabulous antique Victorian 9ct Gold Suffragette pendant necklace is Circa 1900.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking! Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
The wonderful pendant is adorned with three rich green Peridots, four creamy Pearls and a violet Amethyst dropper.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty which has adorned regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
Peridot is a stone of lightness and beauty and was believed to be a stone of springtime by ancients who considered it a gift from Mother Nature.
The necklace is all set in 9ct Yellow Gold, complete with hallmarks and makers initials on the clasp and reverse of the pendant.
The pendant is also fitted with a pin so that the piece can be fastened securely to the wearer.
