This fabulous Antique Victorian 18ct Gold Suffragette ring is dated Chester 1905.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
The ring is set with a lovely 0.50ct violet Amethyst, two rich green Peridots and lovely sparkling old cut Diamonds.
Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty which has adorned regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
