Product Details
A romantic antique lavaliere necklace from the mid-Victorian era featuring a beautiful pendant consisting of turquoise studded ivy leaves and a swallow in the centre with a pearl heart charm hanging from its beak.
Swallows are known to mate for life and said to always return home to the nest, making them a powerful symbol of everlasting love and faithfulness. They were especially popular in the Victorian era and gifted as romantic tokens by lovers during long periods of separation.
Ivy was another romantic motif representing a loving, unbreakable bond, as in the Victorian rhyme “Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee”.
The pendant is suspended from a fabulous rope twist chain, and both are crafted in a bright 9ct yellow gold. It would make a wonderful gift for a loved one, with a lovely sentiment attached.
