A striking antique late-Victorian bar brooch modelled in 15ct gold with a fabulous spider on top, bejewelled with a rich pink ruby head (approx. 0.10ct) and a natural deep green cushion cut tourmaline abdomen (approx. 2ct).
Insect and Spider jewellery grew in popularity at the turn of the 20th Century due to a renewed love of the natural world following the vast urbanisation of the country and were decorated with colourful gemstones to enhance their beauty and value.
It’s a wonderful little antique treasure, featuring two mouth-watering gemstones and a long safety pin at the back to hold it securely.
