A striking Art Deco 9ct gold locket with a distinctive square, clipped-corner silhouette. The face dazzles with a hand-finished enamel checkerboard, where rich cobalt-blue tiles alternate with luminous, sunlit-yellow squares decorated with stylised floral quatrefoils. The reverse is beautifully smooth and enhanced by a lovely natural gold patina that has developed over time.
The two compartments within feature original fitted bezels, designed to keep cherished portraits close to the heart. Its crisp symmetry captures the bold geometric elegance of the 1920s, while the delicate four-petalled florets evoke enduring love, good fortune and devotion.
A highly distinctive and collectable piece of early 20th-century sentimental jewellery, ready to begin its next chapter. It has remained in excellent condition, with crisp, intact enamel and a later replacement bale, stamped 375/ 9ct.
It is also complete with a luxurious burgundy leather presentation box, finished with gold trim and a cream interior, signed by the prestigious Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company of London.
