Collet set in silver and set in a lovely round cushion cut gallery.

The back of the earrings is set in 18ct gold gilt.

Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones because it has relatively high indices of refraction and strong dispersion, the Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured glass pastes.
