These fabulous 18th Century original Georgian Paste earrings are modelled as a shamrock.
Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.
The lovely earrings are set in 18ct Yellow Gold and the old Georgian Paste Stones are set in Silver.
Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones, the Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured glass Pastes.
Shamrocks represents the Holy Trinity, one leaf for the Father, one for the Son and one for the Holy Spirit.
