This ingenious locket ring has been crafted in 18ct gold and emulates the Georgian, Memento Mori style. The round locket is encircled by two clasped hands, symbolising loyalty and friendship and opens to reveal a hidden skull within, set with sparkling old mine cut diamonds eyes.

Such macabre imagery was common in Memento Mori jewellery, which literally translates as “Remember you will die”. The pieces were commonly decorated with skulls, crossbones, and coffins but the morbid themes were not a celebration of death, rather a reminder to live your life well and cherish each waking day. 

It’s a grand statement piece with a good weight and a little surprise within.
