These fabulous antique Victorian flower drop earrings represent the Suffragette movement.
Set with 3 white Pastes which drop down to lovely green white and pink Paste stones in a beautiful flower hanging basket setting.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes.
Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones because it has relatively high indices of refraction and strong dispersion, the Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured glass pastes.
The earrings are set in Silver and fitted with long Gold shepherd hook wires.
These are a truly fabulous pair of Suffragette earrings that look beautiful when worn, very eye catching!
