A wonderful, long lavaliere chain displaying an enormous butterfly pendant suspended from the bottom carved from spotted Kiwi jasper. The chain is also decorated with polished jasper stones, a combination of beads and hearts with bright, creamy cultured pearls and lustrous Mother of pearls hung in between.
The large kiwi jasper butterfly is skilfully carved and features a cluster of jasper and pearl beads dangling from the bottom. It’s also accompanied by two smaller, matching butterflies on the chain above. All have a pale mint-green colouring and natural black and white spotting on the surface that is characteristic of the stone.
Kiwi Jasper, also known as sesame jasper, was discovered as recently as 2014 and is named after its country of origin New Zealand. It’s grainy texturing and calming pale-green hue is similar to that of natural jade but is distinct for its black and white spotting that also resembles the inside of the native kiwi fruit.
It’s a substantial, long chain measuring 37 inches in length and consists of sterling silver links and a claw clasp at the top. It’s a fabulous piece with a gorgeous collection of jasper and pearls that complement each other beautifully.
