A fabulous Victorian inspired Spider pendant decorated with glistening Rose cut Diamonds, seven pink Rubies on the abdomen and two blue Sapphire eyes.
Insect/ bug jewellery grew in popularity in the latter half of the 19th Century due to a renewed love of the natural world following the vast urbanisation of the country and were often decorated with colourful gemstones to enhance their beauty and value.
The pendant is beautifully detailed and modelled in Silver and 18ct Gold with a fine 18ct chain to display it on.
