A most unusual hand carved Whitby Jet cross pendant that is genuine Whitby Jet.

Whitby Jet was brought to the attention of the world by Queen Victorian who used Whitby Jet as part of her mourning attire.

Jet is a type of brown coal a fossilised wood from an ancient tree similar to the monkey puzzle tree.

Today Whitby Jet is highly collectable and sought after world wide.

The cross is set on a metal ring, this was probably worn during the mourning period.

In very good condition

It weighs 3.9 grams & measures 55mm in length including the wire 25mm in width.
