A magnificent vintage amethyst cocktail ring from the mid-20th century, crowned with an impressive 14 carat oval-cut amethyst, securely claw-set and elevated above a bright 9ct yellow gold gallery and band, its luxurious deep-lavender hue glowing beautifully against the warmth of the gold.
Amethyst’s regal purple-violet hue is said to provide protection, clarity and wisdom and was once reserved only for royalty. Legend also ties it to Saint Valentine, who was said to wear an amethyst ring carved with Cupid, making it the birthstone of February and a popular Valentines gift as well.
