This amethyst ring is a magnificent vintage gold cocktail ring from the early 20^th Century bestowed with a mammoth oval cut amethyst weighing approx. 25 carats. It has a regal deep purple hue and is claw set in a large, open-work mount, fashioned in 9ct gold. 

Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring has been highly esteemed throughout history, adorning regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
